Pretty mock Georgian house in the heart of Kensington.

This charming property offers a rare chance to experience the quainter side of London – amid quiet streets and a cobbled mews. Many famous people live in the area – including politicians, actors, authors and even some royalty!

The house affords a fantastic location, close to many of London’s most popular attractions including Kings Road, Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park, which are all located within 5-20 minutes walking distance. Guests may even be lucky enough to see the Household Cavalry assemble in the street outside prior to exercising their horses (a regular occurrence) – for a true taste of traditional London! Your nearest tube station is Gloucester Road (District, Circle and Piccadilly lines).

The house sleeps 4, occasional 5, in 2 bedrooms each with king-sized beds which can be split into 2 singles so the configuration can be 2 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms or one double and one twin. In addition a 5th person can be accommodated on a sofa-bad in a study area leading to the roof terrace reached by a ladder.

The front door opens onto the cosy cottage style eat-in kitchen (13ft x 12ft, 3.95m x 3.65m) which offers plenty of rustic character with its eclectic mix of furniture and artwork. White painted floors reflect the light and complement the olive coloured walls. There’s a pretty chandelier that hangs above a wooden table that seats four to six and paintings and photographs created by the owner’s friends. The usual expected appliances can be found in the kitchen including: microwave, oven with gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and several cafetiers – there is no washing machine but there is an excellent laundry / dry cleaners located nearby.

The first set of stairs leads to a large open-plan reception room (21ft x 13ft, 6.65m x 3.9m) with its large sash windows and French doors that bathe the room in plenty of light .

As well as providing superb views of the local church spires and traditional neighbouring houses, the reception room displays yet more personal touches with two proud portraits of the owner’s ancestors and an array of comfortable seating and stylish design features. There is a chaise longue, three 2-seater sofas, coffee table bureau, Davenport desk (owner use only) and several chairs.

For entertainment there is a TV with freeview channels, DVD player and an amazing stereo system with an iPod dock (bring your own iPod/CDs) which is wired to inbuilt speakers throughout the house, so you can choose to listen to music in the living area, the bedrooms or even on the roof terrace! Wi-fi broadband is also available throughout.
The stairs from the reception/lounge lead the next floor and the bathroom which has been decorated in powder blue tones with whitewashed wooden floors and a back wall featuring decorative wallpaper with pretty flora and birds. There is a bath with over-shower, a traditional shower, basin and loo.

The next room to the left is the small “guest” bedroom (9ft x 7ft5, 2.74m x 2.29m) which has a king-sized bed splits into two singles if required – please let us know when booking. There’s also a chair, small table, lamp, chest of drawers, floral curtains and soft-furnishings – continuing the cottage style theme.

The main bedroom (14ft7 x 14ft, 4.5m x 4.25m) is a light and airy room thanks to the two large windows. There is plenty of storage in the form of a fitted wardrobe and large chest of drawers, the room also has a chair, several small tables and lamps. The king-sized bed splits into two singles if required – please let us know when booking.

A small door next to the bathroom houses a secret …… as the doors are opened, a ladder is revealed that leads up into a small study area with a two-seater sofa that converts into a full comfortable single bed. The doors from this room open onto an impressive roof terrace (21ft x 14ft, 6.6m x 4.5m) which is abundant with fragrant lavender and roses during the summer time. Please note that these facilities are not suitable for the old or infirm – you need to be able to climb up and down a 10ft (3m) fixed ladder which is at about 75° to the vertical.

The terrace overlooks the neighbouring houses and boasts magical views of church spires and Mary Poppins style roof tops – a perfect place for enjoying a chilled glass of wine after a busy day spent sightseeing in London.

Guests staying at this property can enjoy the best of both worlds: a quiet London location close to a plethora of museums, shops, restaurants, parks and traditional English pubs and stylish bars. Kensington High Street, Sloane Square and Kings Road will satisfy those wishing to experience London shopping at its best and are all located within 10-20 minutes from the house.  Those looking for a spot of culture or some respite from the city can visit Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens which are 5 minutes from the house or The Natural History Museum and The Victoria & Albert Museum, which are 10 minutes walking distance.
